Update – The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on the shooting that happened in Wesley Chapel on Friday. In a video statement, Sheriff Chris Nocco said it began on Friday evening around 7:30. The adult children were at the house while the mother and father were arguing.
The argument moved into the bedroom. At some point, the adult daughter heard gunshots. The mother exited the bedroom bleeding and screaming for her children to call police. The adult daughter heard two more gunshots inside the bedroom. PCSO deputies responded to the scene, escorted the victim and adult children outside, and provided medical aid to the female victim.
The adult daughter informed deputies she looked into the bedroom and thought she saw the adult male lying on the bed. Deputies kept calling into the residence to try to get the male to come outside. Robotics were deployed at one point and saw the adult male walking around the house. SWAT was notified and responded.
When PCSO made entry into the house, they found the man at the food pantry. Sheriff Nocco said the man would not listen to orders. A SWAT K9 was deployed before the man was taken into custody. The female victim remains in critical condition. The male suspect will be charged with attempted homicide.
Original – The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that has led to a barricaded suspect situation. Around 9:30 p.m., PCSO reported that deputies were investigating a shooting that happened in the Marquette Area of Wesley Chapel around 7:30 p.m.
It is believed that an adult man shot an adult female victim inside a residence during an altercation. At the scene, deputies found the female victim and got her medical care. The suspect has barricaded himself inside the residence.
PCSO believes this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. No other details are available at this time.
