The Turlock Police Department has arrested a 17-year-old for murder and attempted murder in a shooting on April 16. According to TPD, officers responded to the 700 block of Wayside Drive for a report of a shooting just before 7 p.m. on April 16, 2024. At the scene, officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
One victim was transported to a Modesto hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The second victim, who was identified as 19-year-old Amado “Dominic” Escobedo III, was found in the roadway and succumbed to his injuries.
Turlock Police Department detectives responded to assume control of the investigation. Detectives say the individuals involved knew each other and the shooting occurred following a short altercation. A 17-year-old male suspect from Turlock was identified. On April 22, detectives responded to the Stanislaus County Juvenile Detention Center where the suspect was being held for an unrelated case.
The juvenile was rebooked for murder and attempted murder. On the same day, a search warrant was carried out in the 1200 block of Pioneer Avenue where detectives say they seized evidence relevant to the investigation.
