The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post that one of its deputies shot a suspect tonight. According to OCSO, deputies responded to the Indigo Winter Park Apartments on U.K. Circle in reference to a man holding a gun and pointing it at several residents.
At the scene, deputies reportedly heard one gunshot and found the man who was still holding the gun. OCSO says one deputy fired their service weapon hitting the man. Aid was rendered before the man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
OCSO says the suspect’s firearm was recovered from the scene. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will handle the investigation before handing the findings over to the State Attorney’s Office for review. The involved deputy is on temporary, paid administrative leave pending the initial FDLE review.
