20-year-old man accused of committing strong arm robbery against his 85-year-old grandfather

A 20-year-old from Simi Valley is behind bars for allegedly committing a strong arm robbery against his 85-year-old grandfather. The Simi Valley Police Department reports that the incident happened in the 1700 block of First Street on April 17, 2024.

Kaden Gonzaga is accused of using physical force to take personal property from his 85-year-old grandfather. On April 18, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Gonzaga on charges of robbery and elder abuse. SVPD says its officers responded to Gonzaga’s residence and told him they had a warrant for his arrest.

Authorities claim Gonzaga refused to exit or open the door. Police used force to enter the residence before finding Gonzaga in a bedroom. Gonzaga reportedly refused commands and threatened to use violence against offenders. Two 37mm rubber batons were ineffective. Gonzaga surrendered after a police K9 was deployed.

Gonzaga was transported to an area hospital for treatment before being booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for robbery, elder abuse, and obstructing a peace officer.
