The Barstow Police Department is investigating a violent incident that happened near a Little League baseball game. According to BPD, its Dispatch Center received a call about a shooting at Lillian Park in the 900 block of Villafana Street around 6:39 p.m. on April 17, 2024.
At the scene, officers noticed that a Little League baseball game was being played nearby. None of the players or innocent bystanders were injured. BPD says officers located 47-year-old Heiser Lambert suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. A 15-year-old female was found suffering from a gunshot wound and a stab wound.
Lambert was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. The 15-year-old was transported to Victor Valley Hospital for treatment. BPD says officers detained a 30-year-old adult male who is believed to be the shooter. BPD’s Detective Bureau and Evidence Technicians responded to assume control of the investigation.
Around 7:46 p.m., a 20-year-old adult male victim arrived at Barstow Community Hospital with a stab wound. BPD detectives believe Lambert and the 15-year-old female were involved in a physical fight. During the fight, Lambert is accused of producing a knife and stabbing the female and 20-year-old male.
The female victim’s brother, a 16-year-old boy, produced a handgun and fired multiple rounds at Lambert. Lambert and his sister were shot. The boy fled the scene. Detectives say they are searching for the juvenile suspect who has an unrelated active no-bail warrant for his arrest. The detained 30-year-old male was released after it was determined he was not involved in the incident.
