Detroit man charged in the shooting of five victims at a West Chicago nightclub

A Detroit man has been charged in the shooting of five victims at a West Chicago nightclub. According to the Detroit Police Department, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged 32-year-old Damond Hunter in connection to the shootings of five victims.

Around 2:44 a.m. on March 29, 2024, an alleged verbal altercation occurred between the victims and an unknown group at a nightclub in the 8200 block of West Chicago. Police say the altercation became physical. Hunter is accused of producing and firing a handgun leading to multiple victims being shot.

None of the victims were fatally injured. DPD says Hunter has been charged with five counts of assault with intention to murder, five counts of assault with intent to do bodily harm, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and 11 counts of felony firearm.
