The Cape Coral Police Department is searching for a person of interest in a recent homicide. CCPD said in a social media post that officers responded to a residence in Northwest Cape Coral around 1:44 p.m. on April 16 for reports of a patient in cardiac arrest. At the scene, officers and Lee County EMS found a victim with a faint pulse.
CCPD says Francis G. Tolbert was bleeding from the back of the head from unknown causes. A short time later, the victim was pronounced deceased. Officers found a shell casing near the victim leading them to suspect the injuries were not caused by a medical event.
Violent Crime Detectives say the investigation indicated that one brother, John William Tolbert, was in the residence with Francis and suddenly left. CCPD has identified John William Tolbert as a person of interest. It is believed he fled the area. No gun was located at the residence.
