The Coos Bay Police Department has arrested a suspect for possession of various drugs. According to the Coos Bay Police Department, the 911 center received a call about a man sitting inside a parked vehicle in the parking lot at 3333 Walnut Avenue around 3:30 p.m. on April 13, 2024.
The caller was concerned about the man’s inability to remain awake and suspected drug use. Before police reached the scene, the individual fled leaving behind a bottle of suspected drugs. CBPD says officers managed to locate and detain the man who was identified as 36-year-old Matthew Medeiros.
Officers reportedly found a taser and a large amount of cash with Medeiros. As a result, CBPD officers applied for a search warrant that was carried out on the suspect’s car. Authorities say they found suspected methamphetamine and heroin in the vehicle as well as four firearms. One of the firearms was allegedly stolen.
A search warrant was also carried out at the suspect’s residence in the 1000 block of Maryland Avenue. CBPD says they recovered 21 firearms, cash, drugs, and stolen property. Medeiros was booked into the Coos County Jail on the following charges.
