The Navajo Police Department Window Rock District is investigating after two men attempted to kidnap a 13-year-old girl on Friday. According to NPD, the Window Rock District received a call about an attempted child abduction that happened on April 11 near the Hawthorne exit.
Around 4 p.m. on April 11, a 13-year-old girl was dropped off by the school bus. While walking home, she was confronted by a white, four-door Nissan sedan occupied by two Caucasian men. One man allegedly got out and attempted to get the girl into the vehicle.
The female fought the suspect and fled into a nearby wooded area. The girl waited for the suspects to leave. The victim did not inform her mother until the next day when she refused to go to school. The victim’s mother contacted the school regarding the incident. The victim was also taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.
NPD asks the Sanders community and Navajo Nation wide to remind their kids about situation awareness and always be alert when exiting their school bus.
