The Turlock Police Department was involved in an officer-involved shooting early this morning. According to TPD, dispatch received a call about a suspicious person looking into vehicles in the 900 block of Vermont Avenue around 5:06 a.m. on April 10, 2024. When the responding officer attempted to make contact with the suspect, the suspect fled on foot.
A second officer reached the scene. Together, they ordered the suspect, 37-year-old Corey Pollard, to comply. TPD says he did not. Pollard allegedly presented an object in a threatening manner leading to an officer-involved shooting. Pollard suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the right shoulder.
He was treated at the scene before being transported to a Modesto area hospital. Pollard has since been released and booked into jail for resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer. TPD says the object in Pollard’s possession has been recovered and seized as evidence. The involved officer is described as a 10-year veteran of law enforcement. The officer was not injured during the incident.
