The East Palo Alto Police Department is investigating the murder of a 54-year-old local man. According to EPAPD, officers were flagged down by an individual who directed them to Newell Road near West Bayshore Road for an injured person just before 11 a.m. on April 8, 2024.
At the scene, the officer found an adult male deceased suffering from a fatal wound. Authorities say the preliminary investigation was unable to determine the cause of the injury. Therefore, it was unable to determine whether a crime had occurred. The victim was later identified as 54-year-old Leonard Clark of East Palo Alto.
The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy on the victim on April 9, 2024 and determined that the source of the wound was criminal in nature. This is the second murder in East Palo Alto in 2024.
