Calgary Police investigating suspicious death on Prestwick Terrace as a homicide

Calgary Police are now investigating a suspicious death as a homicide. According to Calgary Police, officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Prestwick Terrace SE for reports of an assault around 8:25 a.m. on April 8, 2024. At the scene, officers found one man deceased. The suspect had fled the scene before police arrived.

Police took one man into custody at a nearby shopping plaza a short time later. In an update on April 9, Calgary Police announced that the suspicious death had been deemed a homicide. After an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the victim was identified as 46-year-old Joel Aaron Clark of Calgary.

One man is in custody. Authorities say charges are pending. The suspect’s name will not be revealed until formal charges have been filed. The homicide is Calgary’s sixth of 2024.
