Columbus man convicted of felony murder in death of Marcel Samedi

A Columbus man has been convicted of murder in the fatal shooting of Marcel Samedi. According to a media release from the Office of the Attorney General, Attorney General Chris Carr announced that Davion Dupas had been convicted of the murder of Marcel Samedi. The victim was fatally shot at the Wilson Apartment Complex in Columbus, Georgia in June 2021.

Dupas and two co-defendants, Jaheim Davis and Corey Troupe Jr., were also convicted of gang charges. Authorities say the defendants were members of the Insane Crips. A Muscogee County Jury reached its verdict on February 23, 2024 following a three-week trial. Dupas is scheduled to be sentenced on April 18, 2024.

22-year-old Davion “Yungdemon Dee” Dupas was convicted of Felony Murder, Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, and Criminal Damage to Property in the First Degree. 21-year-old Jaheim “Zhg Jah” Davis was convicted of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Criminal Damage of Property in the First Degree, and two counts of Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

26-year-old Corey “Lil Pop” Troupe Jr. was convicted of Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and Criminal Damage to Property in the First Degree.
