Queensland Police have announced a police-involved shooting in Woree on the morning of March 27, 2024. According to a Queensland Police media release, police responded to a Bungalow address just after 5:30 a.m. following reports of a woman in distress. Authorities say a man damaged a police vehicle and threatened officers with multiple weapons during the incident.
The man allegedly stole a police vehicle and drove it to Woree before police managed to intercept the vehicle. After the man was shot, he was transported to Cairns Hospital for treatment. The 21-year-old is said to be in stable condition at this time. Queensland Police say there are multiple crime scenes and the investigations are continuing.
