The Louisiana State Police has announced that a Baton Rouge Police Union insurance producer has been arrested for theft and fraud. In November 2022, the LSP Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit Baton Rouge Field Office started receiving information from the Louisiana Department of Insurance about allegations of theft and insurance fraud by 66-year-old Albert Frederick Peterson III.
The information alleged that Peterson, an insurance producer, had conducted fraudulent activities and/or theft related to insurance products provided to the BRPD Union. LSP says the investigation identified 26 separate occasions in which Peterson fraudulently obtained and misappropriated premium and insurance refunds due to Baton Rouge Police Department Union members between May 2019 and May 2021 totaling more than $30,000.
On March 6, 2024, an arrest warrant was issued for Peterson for Insurance Fraud and Theft. LSP Investigators arrested Peterson on March 18, 2024. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
