The Houston Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to a shooting on Thursday. According to an HPD news release, charges have been filed against a suspect in a shooting at 2634 Yorktown Street around 7:35 p.m. on March 21, 2024. 28-year-old Keaiirra Shavoiyae Chidozie is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The 26-year-old male victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. According to HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective D. Knight, Chidozie told detectives that she and her husband got into an argument that escalated. She reportedly started to fear for her safety.

Chidozie supposedly walked to the bedroom. Her husband followed her and continued to argue with her. At some point, Chidozie grabbed a pistol and shot her husband multiple times, according to HPD. Then, she left the apartment with the couple’s two children. Responding officers stopped Chidozie in the parking lot and detained her.
