The Maricopa Police Department responded to a large fight earlier tonight. According to MPD, officers responded to the skate park area at Copper Sky following a report of a fight involving juveniles around 9:30 p.m. on March 22, 2024.

After reaching the scene, officers detained multiple individuals. The Copper Sky Multi-Generational Center was put into shelter-in-place status for a brief time as a precaution. The order has since been lifted. MPD says there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Authorities also say that the social media speculation about a shooting is unfounded. Officers will remain on site to monitor the area.
