The Kingsport Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting. According to a KPD media release, officers responded to the 600 block of Lovedale Drive in reference to a medical emergency. At the scene, responding officers found a 20-year-old male inside a home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. KPD identified the man as 20-year-old William Wilson of Kingsport. KPD says the incident appears to be accidental, but the investigation is active and ongoing. KPD says charges are pending the investigation.
