Update – Elkhart Police have identified the victim in the fatal shooting on Morton Avenue as 50-year-old David Strowder. The Homicide Unit continues to investigate the shooting, according to EPD. No arrests have been made at this time.

Original – The Elkhart Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 2400 block of Morton Avenue. Around 7:25 p.m. on March 21, 2024, the 911 Communications Center received a call about a shooting with injuries at the aforementioned location. At the scene, responding officers located an adult male victim with at least one apparent gunshot wound.

Lifesaving efforts were taken, but the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. EPD confirms that no arrests have been made. The initial investigation suggests that the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. The Elkhart County Homicide Unit responded to assume control of the investigation.
