After a 10-month investigation, detectives with the Stockton Police Department have arrested a 48-year-old man in connection with a homicide from May 20, 2023. John Ditmer has been detained in the San Joaquin County Jail on a murder charge.

Officers were dispatched to the area of E Scotts Avenue and S Aurora Street at 4:24 p.m. on May 20, 2023, to investigate a shooting. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located an adult Hispanic male who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
