The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office has responded to Wes Crile Park following a report of shots fired. According to VCSO, deputies responded to the scene around 5:38 p.m. on March 19, 2024. At the scene, deputies met multiple witnesses who said there were young males in the back of the park with firearms.

Witnesses heard gunshots before seeing several subjects fleeing from the area. No injuries were reported and no gunshot victims have been located at this time. VCSO says Air One and K-9 responded to aid the initial response and follow-up investigation.

A subject has been detained. Detectives are working to determine the facts, circumstances, and parties involved.
