Salt Lake City Police investigating downtown assault that injured six people at funeral home

The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a physical fight that resulted in six people being injured. SLCPD does not believe there is any sort of threat to the community at this time. According to a SLCPD media release, SLC911 received multiple calls of a fight and stabbing at a funeral home at 372 East 100 South around 1:26 p.m. on March 19, 2024.

At the scene, responding officers found four people injured. Paramedics transported the four individuals to local hospitals. Their injuries range from minor to life-threatening. SLCPD says the preliminary information indicates that at last one of the four individuals had been shot.

Doctors have been unable to confirm the cause of injury to the individual who was believed to have been shot. It is believed that some sort of fight started between multiple individuals at the funeral home. Officers learned that a car left the area at a high rate of speed. A vehicle matching the description provided was located near 49 West 300 South and three individuals were taken into custody.

Two of the detainees were transported to an area hospital while the third was detained for questioning. SLCPD says there is no evidence to suggest anyone in the car had been shot or stabbed. No arrests have been made at this time.
