The Madera Police Department is currently investigating a fight that led to a stabbing. According to MPD, officers responded to a call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon near the 300 block of Grove Street around 6:30 p.m. on March 18, 2024. It was reported that two male individuals were fighting outside a residence and one was stabbing the other.

At the scene, responding officers located the subjects. 24-year-old Eric Salazar was apprehended. The victim received medical attention from police officers and EMS personnel. Salazar was booked into the Madera County Jail.

MPD believes this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
