DC Police arrest three men in connection to January fatal shooting of Raymond Ballard

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch has announced the arrests of three men in connection to a fatal shooting in January. According to an MPD media release, Seventh District officers responded to the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue for a shooting around 9 p.m. on January 23, 2024.

At the scene, responding officers found 59-year-old Raymond Ballard inside a business with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. On March 18, 2024, 18-year-old Steven Metts, 19-year-old Jovontae Wallace, and 21-year-old Keondre Carroll were charged with First Degree Murder While Armed.
