The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide in the 8300 block of Vassar Avenue. Around 11:15 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a shots fired call at the aforementioned location in the South East Lake community. At the scene, responding officers witnessed a male lying unresponsive in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire & Rescue personnel responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Details are limited at this time. BPD has confirmed that no one is in custody.
