The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating its third officer-involved shooting of 2024. According to LVMPD, dispatch received a report of an attempted robbery in the 4000 block of South Maryland Parkway around 7:41 p.m. on March 13, 2024. Once officers reached the area, they learned that a white adult male was armed with a knife and allegedly attempted to take the victim’s vehicle.

Officers located the suspect who was still holding the knife. LVMPD says the male refused to obey verbal commands to drop the knife. Officers attempted to use less-lethal options when the suspect reportedly charged at an officer who discharged his duty weapon.

Medical personnel pronounced the suspect deceased at the scene.
