The Salinas Police Department has announced an arrest in a recent shooting. Around 11:13 p.m. on Thursday, SPD officers responded to Connelly Court for a gunshot wound victim. At the scene, responding officers found the homeowner holding down 21-year-old Isaac Salinas Saldana in the backyard.

SPD says Saldana was identified as the shooting suspect so he was taken into custody. A 36-year-old male victim was found bleeding from the head inside the home. SPD determined that Saldana resides at a neighbor’s residence. He allegedly entered the victim’s home and confronted the victim.

He allegedly shot the victim in the head before being restrained by other residents until officers arrived. The victim was taken to an area hospital. At this time, it is not known why the confrontation occurred.
