The Lakewood Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian. Around 7:24 p.m. on February 23, 2024, a Chevy Camaro with Colorado plate DWBP87 was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run near West 23rd Avenue and Kipling Street.

The victim was identified as 29-year-old Terre Engdahl of Lakewood. A Medina Alert was released for the vehicle and a search for the suspect began. On February 27, 2024, the Lakewood Police Department reportedly tracked the suspect to a residence in Commerce City and arrested him.

The suspect has been identified as 40-year-old Jimmy Lee Chavez. The Camaro that was allegedly driven by the suspect has not been found.
