The Kansas City Police Department announced it is investigating a double shooting that killed one and left another with life-threatening injuries. Around 6:16 p.m., officers responded to the area of North 18th Street and Parallel Parkway for reports of shots fired.

On the way to the scene, an officer was flagged down a short distance from the scene and informed that someone had been shot. An adult male victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A second male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The shooting is being investigated by the KCKPD Major Case Unit. No further details are available at this time.
