The Portland Police Bureau announced that two PPB officers and a civilian had been injured following a crash on I-205. Around 11:18 p.m. on January 23, 2024, East Precinct officers responded to a crash on Interstate 205 near Southeast Market Street. At the scene, officers found a crash scene involving a civilian vehicle and a Portland Police Bureau vehicle.

According to PPB, the initial investigation indicates that a PPB vehicle was blocking a lane of traffic for a tow truck to hook up a vehicle when another vehicle collided with the PPB vehicle. Two officers were in the PPB vehicle.

The two officers and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to area hospitals. At this time, the extent of their injuries is not known. The Major Crash Team is responding to investigate.
