Barstow Police arrest Jake Wolden in connection to fatal hit-and-run collision

The Barstow Police Department has announced the arrest of a Barstow resident in connection to a fatal hit and run collision. Around 6:32 p.m. on January 22, 2024, dispatch received a call about a pedestrian hit by a vehicle in the 2500 block of West Main Street. The caller explained that the victim was lying in the roadway and no vehicles could be seen in the area.

Officers responded to the scene. Once there, officers and medics determined that the victim had succumbed to his injuries. Around 10:40 a.m. on January 23, 2024, 31-year-old Jake Wolden arrived at the police department to report he was the driver responsible for the hit-and-run.

Authorities carried out a search warrant at Wolden’s residence in the 27000 block of Ironwood Drive. BPD said additional evidence was found connecting Wolden to the collision. Wolden was booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s High Desert Detention Center for Felony Hit and Run.
