Officers with the Springfield Police Department were dispatched to 930 N. Rogers Avenue before 9:00 p.m. on January 20, 2024, to investigate a shooting. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a 34-year-old male inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics transported the victim to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was later identified as Dustin Pruitt of Springfield, Missouri.

Detectives questioned the individual responsible for shooting Pruitt. No charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation will be turned over to the Green County Prosecutor’s Office once it is completed.
