Baltimore Police Department investigating fatal hit and run that took the life of a 64-year-old woman

The Baltimore Police Department is investigating a fatal hit and run that occurred early Sunday morning. According to a media release from BPD, officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Reisterstown Road in reference to an injured pedestrian in the roadway around 4:02 a.m. on January 21, 2024.

At the scene, officers found a female victim and provided aid until she could be transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased. CRASH Team Investigators responded to take over the investigation.

According to investigators, the victim is 64-year-old Wilma Barnes. At this time, BPD is only saying that the victim was struck by an unidentified black vehicle that fled the scene following the crash.
