On November 16, 2023, at approximately 3:05 p.m., Birmingham police responded to a report of a 17-year-old threatening to jump off a roof. Responding officers located the Woodlawn High School Student on the roof of a gas station adjacent to the school.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel and BPD Tactical Operations officers successfully talked the teen down from the roof at approximately 5:05 p.m.

BPD officers say that the juvenile was experiencing a crisis at the time. The juvenile was taken to an area hospital.
