The Shafter Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to a stabbing. Around 5:43 p.m. on January 19, 2024, the police department received a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of South Shafter Avenue. Officers reached the scene around 5:45 p.m. and located a victim with multiple stab wounds to the abdomen and arm.
Additional officers searched the area for the suspect. The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Around 6:06 p.m., a patrol sergeant spotted the suspect walking out of a nearby store. Officers responded and took the suspect into custody. The suspected weapon was recovered.
41-year-old Julian Bazan was arrested for Attempted Murder, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Battery with Serious Bodily Injury. His bail was set at $575,000.
