A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a female victim on May 29, 2023. Maurice Byars is facing first-degree robbery and murder charges.

Officers with Louisville Metro Police Department were dispatched to the 400 block of Finzer Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. on May 29, to investigate a shooting. Dispatch updated the scene to 400 block of E. Broadway where officers found an adult female victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics transported the victim to the University Hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives were later notified that the female victim succumbed to her injuries. Detectives with the Homicide Unit assumed the investigation.
