On November 14, 2023 around 9:05 PM, Victorville Deputy Cassidy spotted a black Honda traveling east on Nisqually Road at a high rate of speed and making illegal lane changes, according to the Victorville Police Department. A check of records indicated that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Victorville earlier that day. Deputy Cassidy attempted to carry out a traffic stop, but the driver of the vehicle refused.
Police say the driver drove at a high rate of speed and ran stop signs during the pursuit. The driver lost control as the vehicle approached 2nd Street and Dean Avenue and crashed into a residence on Dean Avenue, according to authorities. The driver was later identified as 27-year-old Robert Resendez Soliz of Adelanto.
Police say Soliz exited the vehicle and attempted to evade deputies but was detained without further incident. No one inside the home was injured. According to a press release from the Victorville Police Department, Soliz showed signs of being under the influence. Soliz was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for the injuries he suffered during the accident. Soliz is currently on County Probation.
He is facing charges of possession of stolen property, felony failure to yield, and driving under the influence.
