The Ephrata Police Department is investigating a shooting of a female around 8:15 a.m. this morning. According to a news release, EPD officers and other agencies responded to 17 F Street Southwest in reference to a shooting. Police say a woman from the residence sought assistance from a neighbor around 8:15 a.m. after being shot.
The woman was bleeding from the abdomen. She claimed that a male inside her residence had shot her. At this time, the relationship between the victim and the suspect is not known. Law enforcement surrounded the duplex where the man was barricaded inside. After roughly 40 minutes of negotiations, the man surrendered to authorities.
The woman was taken to the Columbia Basin Hospital before being transported to a regional hospital for treatment. The man was transported to Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake for evaluation.
