The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of three suspects in relation to thefts and burglaries at the Rising Sun Campground. On December 27, 2023, deputies responded to the Rising Sun Campground at 7510 North 250 East in Ora for a complaint of Theft and Burglary. PCSO said an unknown person had broken into roughly 15 campers and stole various valuables.
Over the next few weeks, more callers reported more stolen items. PCSO said deputies received a tip with possible suspect information in early January 2024. On January 10, 2024, another building on County Road 200 East was found to have been burglarized. On January 14, deputies carried out a search warrant at a residence and recovered most of the stolen items.
Authorities say property from both burglaries was recovered. Additional information led deputies into Starke County to other residences of the suspects. Three suspects have been charged in connection to the theft. PCSO said it is estimated that between $15,000 and $20,000 in damages and stolen property were involved.
A juvenile from Winamac was arrested. 19-year-old Zerek Ford was arrested and booked into the Pulaski County Jail. 18-year-old Drew Zimmerman was charged for his alleged involvement.
