The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting of a 17-year-old at Dwight Hawkins Park in Deltona. According to a social media post from the VCSO, a 17-year-old was sitting on a bench at Dwight Hawkins Park around 3:20 p.m. on January 15, 2024 when they were injured by a gunshot to the leg.

A deputy responded to the scene and applied a tourniquet and first aid until Deltona Fire Rescue arrived. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. At this time, detectives are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
