The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect wanted in a fatal shooting in Marion Oaks. Just before 2 p.m. on January 12, 2024, deputies responded to 168 Marion Oaks Boulevard in reference to a shooting. At the scene, deputies located a victim deceased from a gunshot wound.

The victim was identified as Milagros Guzman Lopez. According to authorities, witnesses said Melvin Arias arrived at the located before an argument ensued in front of the business. Arias allegedly retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot the victim before fleeing.

Deputies and detectives are searching for Arias who has a warrant for the murder of Lopez. Anyone with information about Arias should call 911.
