The Columbus Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in a fatal shooting at the Dollar General on Amber Drive. Around 3:30 p.m. on February 14, 2022, officers with the Columbus Police Department responded to the 900 block of Amber Drive after a report of a shooting. Officers found a black male victim with a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim, who was later identified as 27-year-old Gary Brown, was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital where he passed away two days later. Homicide Unit detectives took control of the investigation. On January 4, 2024, arrest warrants were obtained for 19-year-old Kentarius Cooper.

On January 12, 2024, Cooper was apprehended and charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
