Denver Police Department arrests Anissa Johnson in the homicide of a 64-year-old man

The Denver Police Department has announced the arrest of Anissa Johnson in the homicide of a 64-year-old man who was found dead in his apartment on January 2, 2024. Around 11:19 a.m. on January 2, officers responded to a building in the 1200 block of Washington Street to carry out a welfare check.

At the scene, the victim was found and pronounced deceased. During the investigation, detectives say they learned that the victim had several sharp force injuries to his back and a possible defensive injury to one of his hands.

Detectives say further investigative work determined that Anissa Johnson was the suspect in the homicide and the homicide occurred before Christmas. On Friday, Johnson was arrested. She is being held for investigation of First Degree Murder. The Denver District Attorney’s Office will determine official charges.
