The Laurel Police Department has arrested a man for hate crimes for allegedly attacking two people and three police officers

According to a social media post from the Laurel Police Department, 25-year-old Joshua Martin Roman of Montgomery Village was arrested after allegedly physically assaulting two residents and three Laurel Police Officers. Police were dispatched to the 15100 block of Baltimore Avenue in Laurel around 9:34 AM on Wednesday for a report of an assault. While traveling to the scene, police received information that the victim and suspect were now at the 330 block of Domer Avenue and a second victim had been assaulted.

Once officers reached the scene, they located the suspect with help from both victims. Police claim Martin assaulted three officers during his arrest. None of the officers sustained injuries. Both victims had minor injuries and received immediate medical attention. Based on statements made by the suspect during his arrest, Laurel Police have classified the assaults as hate crimes.
