The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a homicide at a residence on Monreal Road. According to MCSO, authorities received a 911 call from a home in the 15000 block of Monreal Road around 3:13 a.m. on January 5, 2024. The caller informed police that someone was breaking into their home through the back door and had made entry.

At the scene, deputies learned that a male occupant of the home had been in a physical struggle with the intruder. Deputies say the intruder was unresponsive and succumbed to his injuries. The Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division responded to assume control of the investigation.

MCSO said the initial investigation suggests that the male homeowner confronted the intruder and a physical struggle ensued. At some point, the intruder lost consciousness. No arrests have been made at this time.
