On November 14, 2023 at approximately 2:20 PM, Lamesa Police Department officers responded to the 1500 block of S Avenue N in reference to suspicious activity at a residence. According to a Lamesa Police Department press release, officers at the scene observed that forced entry had been made into the residence. Officers encountered a male suspect after entering the residence. The suspect was identified as Marty Guerrero who is currently wanted for burglary, theft of property, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Police say Guerrero produced a handgun and shots were fired at officers when police attempted to contact him. Guerrero was able to exit the residence via a window and escape the area before police could set up a perimeter. The Lamesa Police Department warns locals that Guerrero is considered armed and dangerous.
