The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened on the evening of January 6, 2024 in the 2700 block of Washington Avenue. Around 6:13 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of a person shot at the aforementioned location. At the scene, officers found an adult female lying unresponsive on the sidewalk.

NOPD said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators are gathering evidence and information to identify the person or persons responsible as well as a motive. At this time, no additional information is available.
