The Newport News Police Department is dealing with an armed, barricaded suspect. According to a social media post from the NNPD, it is working a tactical operations unit callout in the 0 block of Davis Park Drive in response to an armed, barricaded suspect.

NNPD is asking people to avoid this area until the matter can be resolved. Furthermore, northbound traffic is closed at 74th Street and Jefferson Avenue. Southbound traffic is closed at 79th Street and Jefferson Avenue.
