The Detroit Police Department has responded to a barricaded gunman incident in the 3700 block of Oakman. Deputy Chief Arnold Williams explained that police received a call around 11 p.m. that a woman was possibly being held against her will by her boyfriend. Once officers reached the scene, they learned that the two daughters of the victim had been released from the residence.
The daughters informed police that the victim and her boyfriend had been arguing. They were possibly arguing over a gun. Police also say that the mom and suspect were armed with weapons registered to them. Chief Arnold Williams said in a statement that they had not had contact with the mom or suspect since they had been at the scene.
Police will continue attempting to contact the suspect. Williams said DPD may need to escalate what it is doing if it is unable to get in contact with the suspect. Police are asking anyone in the area to remain inside and away from windows.
