The Albuquerque Police Department has provided an update in the officer-involved shooting near Pennsylvania and Central. Around 8:20 p.m. on December 30, 2023, APD officers were alerted to a license plate reader hit on a stolen vehicle in the area of Pennsylvania and Central.

Officers made contact with the vehicle in question. Some type of altercation occurred between the officers and the driver of the stolen vehicle. An officer was shot during the incident and hit in both hands. The injured officer is currently at the University of New Mexico Hospital for treatment.

The suspect was also struck and transported to the hospital. No other information is available at this time.
